Reflections from India Energy Week, Intersolar North America, POWERGEN, Energy Storage Summit, and more
February may be a short calendar month, but that didn’t stop Energy Dome from attending renewable energy events on three different continents and preparing to visit yet another region.
Yes, we’ve been busy, but we have to be. Time is of the essence. Wholesale prices of electricity and gas in Europe have surged fifteen-fold in Europe since 2021, while Russia’s supplies of natural gas have been drastically cut amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. Europe has just proposed an ambitious Green Deal Industrial Plan to help the EU reach climate neutrality by 2050, following in the footsteps of the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States. The globe is finally poised for a renewable energy transition, and Energy Dome is here to provide critical energy storage worldwide.
Earlier this month, Energy Dome attended India Energy Week in Bengaluru, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The event drew key players in the renewable industry, from utilities and power generation to construction and government. India is expecting a 20 percent year-over-year growth in its wind and solar capacity between 2022 and 2030, and Energy Dome is ready to support this transition.
After India, Energy Dome leadership headed to the United States to join the leading annual solar and storage event, Intersolar North America (ISNA) and Energy Storage North America (ESNA) in California. We networked and discussed the merits of long-duration energy storage for meeting North American decarbonization goals. (Check out a feature news story mentioning our technology at the event in Power Magazine.)
From California, we traveled east to Florida for POWERGEN International, the largest networking and business hub for energy providers. Joe Ferrari, US Sales Director at Energy Dome, presented the benefits of our CO2 battery for both energy storage needs and CO2 and discussed its merits relative to chemical batteries at a conference session “CO2 as energy storage” on February 22.
Then, back in Europe, we spoke and exhibited at the in London, which brought together Europe’s leading investors, policymakers, developers, utilities, energy buyers and service providers. Ben Potter, Senior Vice President of Strategy, Corporate Development and Investor Relations at Energy Dome, spoke on a panel . He discussed the energy storage technologies that are ready for commercial use and explored their merits and drawbacks for different applications. Energy Dome was joined by industry leaders from all over Europe, including IHS Markit, RheEnergise, Conrad Energy, Galp, Gransolar, and CarbonFree Technology.
That’s not all. (See, we weren’t joking!) Our Founder and CEO Claudio Spadacini was invited to take part in the prestigious McKinsey German Green Business Building Summit in Berlin, followed by a talk at the exclusive J.P. Morgan Clean Tech Stars Conference in London, focused on the future stars in decarbonization: high-growth private companies from EMEA and adjacent regions.
But wait, there’s more! Between March 7 and 9, we’ll be in Dubai to present at Intersolar Middle East. Energy Dome’s Paul Smith, Vice President of Sales, will discuss the importance of long-duration energy storage for energy transition in the Middle East. We’ll talk about conventional storage methods, such as pumped hydro and grid-scale lithium-based batteries, and explore their merits and shortcomings compared to the CO2 Battery, with specific use cases in the region. Send us a message if you’d like to connect in Dubai. We hope to see you there!
And please stay tuned for more exciting news from us, coming soon!
