Rimini – March 05, 2025 – Energy Dome, a frontrunner in utility-scale energy storage solutions, has been awarded the esteemed Lorenzo Cagnoni Innovation Award in the “Most Innovative Company – Key Storage” category at the Key Energy Transition Expo, which took place March 5-7 at the Rimini Expo Centre in Rimini, Italy.

The Lorenzo Cagnoni Innovation Award, now in its second year, celebrates exhibitors demonstrating the most groundbreaking projects across various sectors within the energy transition. It shines a spotlight on companies driving technological advancements and shaping the future of sustainable energy. The awards ceremony, a highlight of the Expo’s opening day on Wednesday, March 5th, was presented by prominent figures in the energy sector: Maurizio Ermeti, President of Italian Exhibition Group, Corrado Peraboni, CEO of Italian Exhibition Group, Alessandra Astolfi, Global Exhibition Director of IEG’s Green & Technology division, Christian Previati, KEY Exhibition Manager, Francesco Naso, Motus-E General Secretary, and Alessandro Marangoni, CEO of Althesys.

The Key Energy Transition Expo serves as a vital platform for facilitating dialogue among companies, emerging enterprises, and key stakeholders in the energy sector. The event offers a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies, services, and integrated solutions that are reshaping the energy landscape in Italy and the Mediterranean region, addressing the critical challenges of energy transition and evolving climate policies. This year’s Expo further cemented its position as a leading European hub for renewable energy and energy efficiency, serving as a launchpad for innovation and market opportunities. The event renews the area dedicated to Start-Ups and Innovation, promoting dialogue between companies, new businesses and stakeholders in the sector.

Organized by Italian Exhibition Group SpA, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci), in collaboration with Ice – Italian Trade Agency, Arte-Er, Fondazione Mai, Confindustria, and ANGI (the National Association of Young Innovators) as Main Partner, the Expo underscores the collective commitment to advancing the energy transition.

Alongside Energy Dome, other companies were recognized for their innovative contributions: Horay Solar Co., Ltd, Italian Wind Technologies, Rina Services S.p.A, Renovis S.r.l., Camel Energy GmbH, and Alperia S.p.A. Three startups, selected from over 30 present in the innovation district, were also awarded: Trailslight S.r.l., Reefilla S.r.l., and Sizable Energy S.r.l.

Francesco Oppici, Co-Founder and CPO of Energy Dome, accepted the award. This recognition further solidifies Energy Dome’s commitment to developing and deploying advanced, cost-effective, and sustainable energy storage solutions that enable the seamless integration of intermittent renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, into the grid.

Gabriele Ferrieri, President of ANGI, stated, “Innovation is a cornerstone in the path linked to the ecological and energy transition, and here, within the Innovation District and the Startup area of Key – The Energy Transition Expo, we have been able to see as many as 32 excellent projects from all over Italy demonstrate the quality, talent and virtuosity of how Italian and international companies promote this sector. As the National Association of Young Innovators, we are pleased to be back among the protagonists of this new edition of Key Energy and as the main partner of the entire Innovation District and Start-Up Area and with the aim of giving voice to young people, voices to talent and above all building a renewed public and private partnership that can be of support for a world in the name of sustainability. About Energy Dome

Energy Dome is revolutionizing energy storage and enabling grid decarbonization by making solar and wind power dispatchable 24/7. The company invented and developed the CO2 Battery, a long-duration energy storage system that makes long-duration energy storage viable globally today. The properties of carbon dioxide allow the system to store energy efficiently and cost-effectively, with a modular and site-independent footprint. CO2 Batteries use readily available, off-the-shelf components from reliable, existing supply chains, providing a scalable pathway to store massive amounts of intermittent renewable energy and accelerate the energy transition.
