Energy Dome is a dynamic and innovative Italian company composed of engineers, innovators and business professionals. Our team has a track record from previous ventures in developing, designing and building more than 500 MW of geothermal, heat recovery, CSP, biogas and biomass power plants based on proprietary innovative technologies.

Management Team

Claudio Spadacini

Founder and CEO


Engineer by formation, entrepreneur by nature, Claudio has multiple successful experiences founding energy ventures taking them from the early concept to successful leading market players. Before Energy Dome he founded and managed Exergy S.p.A. a company that, under his guidance, developed and installed more than 460 MWe of geothermal, waste heat recovery and CSP power plants. These plants were all based on the innovative technology of the radial outflow turbine patented and developed by Claudio himself. Prior to that he founded Sebigas S.p.A., which designs, constructs and manages biogas plants world wide with a portfolio of over 80 plants. Claudio is also founder, together with Andrea Dossi, of Idroelettrica Cavaglio, developer of hydroelectric power plant with an innovative technology for rock drilling tunnels and the worldwide longest drilled tunnel of its kind. All Claudio’s new ventures are based on disruptive technologies that he was able to envision, invent and develop by, at the same time, carefully protecting with numerous patents. Claudio is a skilled engineer with an extensive knowledge of conventional and renewable energy systems, turbomachinery and thermodynamic processes. Claudio holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering turbomachinery, energy production and conversion at the Politecnico di Milano.

Dario Rizzi

Co-founder and CTO


Dario is a leading expert in the design and commissioning of thermodynamic processes and rotating machinery. He was previously the technical director at Exergy S.p.A. where he built over 30 power plants worldwide, responsible from the early engineering phase to the final commissioning and testing. Dario also oversaw the turbine production facility leading the production, assembly and testing of over 50 turbines. Dario has more than 30 patents filed on ORC process, radial outflow turbo-generators, and turbomachinery construction methods. He holds a master’s degree in industrial and mechanical engineering at the Politecnico di Milano.

Francesco Oppici

Co-founder and Chief Product Officer


Francesco is a business developer with years of international experience developing new markets and product lines. He was previously the sales and business development director Americas at Exergy S.p.A. where he was responsible for opening and leading the regional company office in Mexico City. He has a successful track record of opening new markets and being responsible for the sale of new product applications such as the first high enthalpy geothermal project and the first concentrated solar power (CSP) project. Francesco also has experience as proposal engineer with capabilities in power plant design optimization and cost estimation. He holds a master’s degree in energy engineering and power production at Politecnico di Milano.


Simone Penati

Head of Engineering


Simone is the Head of Engineering at Energy Dome. He has over a decade of experience in power, renewable energy, and pharmaceutical industries, having led multidisciplinary teams in designing, commissioning and startup industrial plants and machineries. Simone graduated cum laude from Polytechnic University of Milan with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering; his master’s thesis explored the integration of chemical looping combustion in IGCC plant for carbon capture and sequestration. He is passionate about fighting climate change with breakthrough technology.

Fabio Arienti

Process Engineer


Fabio is a talented Energy Engineer with international experience as a Process Engineer, with deep knowledge of the thermodynamic and mechanical design of innovative power plant equipment. He has 6 years experience in the commissioning and startup of ORC plants, especially Geothermal and Heat recovery plants.

Fabio Vitale

Process Engineer


Fabio graduated Politecnico di Milano in 2017 with a degree in chemical engineering at Politecnico di Milano. In 2019, he earned a master’s degree in energy engineering and operations at Politecnico di Torino. After graduating, he worked as a production and process engineer at an Oil&Gas company for three years. He has joined Energy Dome to be an active part in the energy transition and give a positive contribution to the team.

Simone Panella

Junior Process Engineer


Simone is a passionate energy engineer, who recently graduated from Politecnico di Milano. He specializes in power production with a particular focus on renewable sources, energy conversion, and thermodynamic processes. He obtained a master’s degree with a final mark of 108/110 in energy engineering, and he proposed a numerical thesis on the optimisation of an ORC cycle in on-design and off-design configuration, coupled with a CSP plant and a storage system.

Filippo Molteni

Automation & Control Engineer


Filippo is an experienced automation and electrical engineer capable of providing technical leadership and guidance in integrated automation, process control and electrical systems. Over the past 8 years,he has been planning project scopes, budget estimates, and provided technical leadership,solving complex technical issues. Such experiences in Europe, USA, Middle East and Australia include construction, commissioning and the startup of renewable energy plants like Geothermal & Heat recovery plants, industrial plants for painting and wastewater treatment.


Joe Ferrari

VP Sales, Americas


Joe Ferrari is Energy Dome’s VP of Sales, Americas. He has nearly two decades of experience in the energy space and a passion for helping utilities meet 100% clean energy targets. Joe’s prior expertise includes working at MAN Energy Solutions where he specialized in renewable fuels (seasonal storage) and thermal storage (long-duration); he also launched an energy consulting arm within the company. Prior to that, Joe spent 15 years at Wartsila North America, where he spearheaded market development efforts for energy transition and helped bring over $1 billion USD-worth of fast and flexible energy capacity in North and Central America. Joe is the author of a book Electric Utility Resource Planning: Past, Present and Future, guiding utilities, policy makers, and academia toward clean energy. Joe holds a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Cincinnati and another master’s degree in natural resource science from the University of Maryland, where he also worked as a research scientist.

Jonathan Roncolato

Product Engineer


Jonathan’s background was shaped in applied research, developing a deep knowledge of both Computational Fluid Dynamics and numerical simulation of energy systems. He worked for several years in close collaboration with innovative startups and industrial partners in the fields of CSP and energy storage, specifically A-CAES technology. He enthusiastically joined Energy Dome for the opportunity to work with an international team of talented people and to contribute to the company’s vision: to lead the way in the energy transition and foster the access to affordable and sustainable energy. He holds a master’s degree in energy engineering and power production at Politecnico di Milano.

Giancarlo De Franco

Technical Sales


Giancarlo is a member of Energy Dome’s Technical Sales team and he is passionate about energy and engineering projects. Giancarlo has experience in R&D, having previously developed software for optimization of machine performance for an industrial compressor manufacturer. Giancarlo also worked for a technical consulting and engineering company in the field of innovation in the electric power sector. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in energy engineering - energy for development, both from Polytechnic University of Milan.

Marco Alberio

Technical Sales


Marco is a Technical Sales who brings R&D engineering experience to Energy Dome, helping the company deploy the CO2 Battery around the world. He has previously worked as an engineer at Exergy ORC, an international company focused on electricity generation from RES (biomass, geothermal) and waste heat recovery from chemical and manufacturing processes. He holds a master's degree in energy engineering (Power Generation) and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan. Marco’s graduate thesis focused on the development of a python mean-line model for the design and performance assessment of ORC radial inflow turbines, published in a paper and presented at Turbo Expo 2021 Turbomachinery Technical Conference & Exposition.

Andrea Colombo

Electrical Engineer


Andrea is an electrical engineer, who graduated in 2018 from the Polytechnic of Milan. After two year’s of experience in the field of railway and subway electric traction, he decided to move from the thematic field of application of the electrical discipline, to that of renewable energy.

Antonio Lezzi

Supply Chain Manager


Antonio has over 12 years of experience in procurement and logistics across several sectors. Prior to joining Energy Dome, he held positions such as procurement manager and supply chain manager in the electro-mechanical industry. He specialized in assisting with a pragmatic approach, on all the aspects of the procurement cycle and strategic areas, with the aim of improving the end-to-end supply chain. Antonio holds a master’s degree in telecommunication engineering from the University Parthenope of Naples, Italy.

Samuela Beretta

Technical Buyer


Samuela is Energy Dome’s Technical Buyer, bringing a decade of experience in the energy and water treatment industries. She is a skilled strategist with experience in managing projects, material supply agreements, and contracts for major companies in the Middle East. Samuela holds a master’s degree in languages for intercultural and business communication from the University of Milan and recently completed a course in global procurement & sourcing at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

Niccolò Priano

Project Manager


Niccolò has over eight years of project management experience in the energy industry, including international experience. He has worked with Engineering, Procurement and Construction companies around the globe. His experience includes supervising and managing the completion of Thermal Oxidizer and Heat Recovery plants. Niccolò holds a master’s degree in energy engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan and a specialization in the petroleum sector from NTNU, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim.

Ben Potter

SVP Strategy, Corporate Development and Investor Relations


Ben brings experience across the energy value chain, including capital raising, M&A, corporate strategy and renewable energy project development. He is on the Board and Investment Committee of Decentral Energy Capital, a solar private equity fund. His previous roles include working in cleantech investment banking as a Venture Partner at Prospect Capital, Senior Strategy Manager at EY in London, Head of Energy at Cala Capital and working as an economic advisor to various emerging market governments. He is an economist by training with an MSc (London School of Economics), MCom (University of Cape Town), and BSc (University of the Witwatersrand).

Tiziana Sarto

Marketing & Communications Manager


Tiziana is a Marketing & Communications specialist with a specialization in business development. In her recent role at Directa Plus, Tiziana oversaw the listing of one of the largest global producers of graphene on the London Stock Exchange. She is passionate about ensuring that marketing and communication activities align with business goals and corporate strategy.
Tiziana graduated from Milan Catholic University with a master's degree in international relations and european integration, with a thesis in advanced economics. She also has a master’s degree in marketing and communication from Sole 24 Business School.


Paolo Cavallini

Head of Finance


After earning master’s degree in management engineering with a specialization in energy and sustainability management at Politecnico di Milano, he worked as a group controller for internationally listed companies across different industries, with responsibility for M&A projects. Passionate and curious, he joined Energy Dome willing to give his contribution to the growth of a company that can lead toward a more sustainable world.

Ilenia Geronimi

Financial and Administrative Specialist


Ilenia is an experienced accountant. After experience at a Big Four accounting firm as a consultant, she moved on to the administration and accounting department of a leading Italian bank. She is now happy to be part of Energy Dome. Ilenia holds a master’s degree cum laude in business administration and law at the University of Pavia, Italy.

Eric Watson

Sales Manager US


Eric is the Sales Manager US at Energy Dome. He has experience with long-duration energy storage having been an applications engineer with Highview Power (LAES) and sales engineer with Largo Clean Energy (VRFB). He is passionate about ensuring a clean, sustainable, and affordable energy supply to consumers. Eric holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Arizona, where he designed and optimized a concentrated solar plant (CSP).

Federico Minoli

Sales Manager


Federico is a Sales Manager with experience both in technical design and commercial negotiation. He worked in ORC plants and in large size cooling businesses, following contracts in traditional power production and in renewable energy, with main EPCs and Utilities. He has a double master’s degree in energy at Politecnico di Milano and Torino, with a thesis on the optimization of district heating networks with integration of solar panels and thermal storage in the network.

Alberto Giannone

Site Manager


Alberto graduated with a degree in energy engineering (Production and Conversion) at Politecnico di Milano in 2008. He has worked for 14 years in the management of renewable energy plants, primarily focused on biogas and upgrading technologies. He has experience with projects covering every phase, from engineering, to site management and commissioning activities on international scale projects.

Cesare Maifredi

Cesare Maifredi - General Partner - Milan.
Seasoned professional in tech venture capital, strategic planning and corporate finance with over 15 years of work experience in the US and Italy. He began his career in management consulting rising through the ranks at firms such as Accenture, Bain & McKinsey before joining 360 Capital in 2010. He has since supported over €200M in fundraising activities and led/managed over a dozen technology venture investments across Europe including Invendo Medical (sold to Ambu A/S), EPS (sold to Engie SA), Musement (sold to TUI Group AG), Neutrino (sold to Coinbase Inc). Cesare holds an M.B.A. from Darden School of Business Administration of the University of Virginia, and master’s degree in industrial engineering and mechanical engineering from the University of Brescia, Italy.

James Ferrier

Board Member


James is an Impact Investment Director at Barclays in the Principal Investments team. He leads Barclays’ Sustainable Impact Capital Programme which has the objective to invest in innovative environmentally focused start-ups helping to accelerate the transition towards a net zero future. His 25 years of transaction and portfolio management experience spanning careers at Barclays and EY includes work on large portfolio sales, buyouts and mid-market PE deals in the Americas, Europe and Asia. He is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor and holds a master degree in mathematics from the University of Oxford.

Andrea Dossi

Board Member


Andrea is a well experienced manager and entrepreneur. He is Vice President of Gruppo Sapio, a leading company in the production of industrial gasses since 1922. He is also Vice President of Biorep, a company part of the Sapio Group that specializes in the collection, transportation, processing, cryopreservation and distribution of high quality biological material. He was previously responsible for Sapio’s special projects and new gas applications where he developed multiple cogeneration plants for Sapio’s facilities. He has been part of Monza e Brianza Confindustria’s team that supports innovative startups. Andrea is also counselor of Iniziative Biometano, a group that owns Biogas and Biomethane projects. Andrea is also founder, together with Claudio Spadacini, of Idroelettrica Cavaglio, developer of hydroelectric power plant with an innovative technology for rock drilling tunnels and the longest drilled tunnel worldwide of its kind. Andrea holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering, logistics and production at LIUC university.

Before founding Novum Capital Partners in 2018, Gabriele was a Managing Director at JP Morgan in Geneva, where he built a client portfolio of over USD4 billion across 30 families. Gabriele’s specialty is advising his clients on their full balance sheet including all aspects of wealth planning, portfolio management and credit advice (including mortgage, jet, yacht and art financing, as well as complex credit deals). Between 2011 to 2016, Gabriele served as a member of the JPMorgan Private Banking Advisory Council. He started his career at BSI in Lugano and moved to Geneva, where he led the bank’s advisory team. Gabriele holds a degree from Bocconi University in Milan.

Sebastiano Silvestri

Sebastiano joined A2A as Innovation Manager in 2018 and since 2020 leads the Corporate Venture Capital program of the Group focusing on early-stage startups in the energy transition and circular economy space. Marcin Klopot

Marcin is an Impact Investment Manager at Barclays in the Principal Investments team. Marcin’s 10 year experience spans mainly across careers in banking at Barclays, Credit Suisse and GE Capital and includes work on complex securitization portfolio risk transfers and mid-market leverage finance deals in Europe. He also did a 12 month stint in a technology start-up in London and supported various European start-ups in their fund raising activities. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a master degree in operational research from Strathclyde University.

Mario Scuderi

Mario is a Senior Partner at CDP Venture Capital, the largest VC in Italy supporting the country’s innovation. Mario is the Head of the Evolution Fund, focusing on Series A and B rounds for Italian deep tech companies. Mario has more than 10 years of experience in venture capital. He previously worked at Sistema Investimenti, Invitalia Ventures, and TIM Working Capital. He holds a Master's degree in management engineering from University of Catania. He is also a winner of the Kauffman Fellowship, a Silicon Valley-based program for innovation, leadership, and venture capital.

Marc Murnaghan

Advisory Board Member


Marc is CEO of Polaris Infrastructure inc. where he led the successful recapitalization transaction, including negotiation of amendments to the San Jacinto project loan documents and the power purchase agreement. San Jacinto is the largest operating geothermal power plant in Nicaragua with 70 MWe of installed power. Marc brings a deep background in the capital markets, having spent over 20 years in senior investment banking roles with Cormark Securities Inc. and National Bank Financial Inc., where he ran the Power and Alternative Energy groups, leading efforts to raise capital for companies in the solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, biomass, power electronics, battery technologies and fuel cell sectors. In addition, he currently chairs the Board of Directors at Autism Speaks Canada, the leading autism science and advocacy organization in Canada. Marc holds an Honours business administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Ennio Macchi

Advisory Board Member


Professor Macchi is Emeritus Professor at Politecnico di Milano www.energia.polimi.it. He took part in the creation of the Energy Department at the Politecnico di Milano, of which he was the first director. He created and coordinates the research activities of a group of teachers and researchers of the Politecnico di Milano www.gecos.polimi.it, which operates in various sectors of energy conversion and environmental impact of energy systems. The research activity of the group is recognized review of international excellence by the peer review promoted by the University. He has been scientific manager of numerous national and international research programs and consultant to many research bodies, industries and utilities in the energy sector. Prof. Macchi is the author of over 200 scientific papers, including numerous volumes and articles published on the most prestigious sector magazines concerning: applied thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, turbomachinery, heat exchangers, heat pumps, power cycles, energy efficiency, thermoelectric power plants, renewable energy, cogeneration, gas turbines and combined cycles, waste-to-energy treatment, environmental impact of energy systems, sustainable coal, carbon dioxide capture and sequestration and hydrogen.

Felice Egidi

Advisory Board Member


Felice Egidi has cooperated with major energy companies in the last few decades gaining a long-lasting experience in the energy sector. He majored in Aeronautical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and has earned a master degree in “advanced management” at Insead- Fontainebleau. From 2000 to 2008 he joined Endesa Italia as Group COO and was also acting as CEO of Ergon Energia, the controlled arm for energy sales to industrial customers. He represented the Group at European level with institutional and private stakeholders. Endesa Italia was then acquired by E.ON Group and Felice Egidi was appointed as procurement executive director of the Italian branch. In January 2009 Felice Egidi joined Enel Green Power S.p.A. as group executive Vice President for regulation&antitrust world area, directly reporting to Group CEO Francesco Starace. From 2016 to 2019 he was appointed as Enel’s vice-president for European Public Affair in Brussels. Felice Egidi was also board director in the main European Association participating as nominated party to the main round table/working groups regarding the on-going decarbonisation process. Indeed, amongst many he took part in Wind Europe, Solar Power Europe, Eurolectric as well as IEA in Paris.
