The CO2 Battery uses carbon dioxide as a working fluid in a closed thermo-mechanical cycle. Charging compresses CO2 under pressure; discharging expands it through a turbine to generate electricity. In this standalone configuration, the heat released during charging is stored and reused during discharging.
In the integrated configuration, the stored heat is replaced with direct waste heat from a co-located gas turbine, which more than doubles peak output and converts the system into an efficiency booster for gas-fired generation.
